University of Worcester
Founded in 1946 as a specialist Teacher Training College, University College Worcester (UCW) quickly established an excellent reputation. In the 1970s it became a College of Higher Education expanding the range of courses on offer. In 1995 it merged with Hereford and Worcester College of Nursing and Midwifery offering a range of specialist programmes and in 1996 it was granted taught degree-awarding powers. In 1999, the college changed its name to University College Worcester and on 5 September 2005 was granted full University Status and is now the University of Worcester. The University offers a wide range of undergraduate programmes through a modular programme and has developed an excellent reputation for teaching, education, nursing, health and sports sciences.
