Overall opinion

DO not come here. I would never recommend this to anyone. Everything needs improving... the lecturers, the facilities, the way they spend your money! It's not worth getting into debt for.

Quality of course and lecturers

I came to University expecting it to be exactly how it was in the great prospectuses they had been dishing out. I was sadly mistaken. The lectures were given at stupid and inappropriate times compared to how the students get into University. (Many are in Scotland, and had to come in at five pm for a one hour lecture). Not many hours lecture were given in the first year. The classes were badly organised in the way they were taught and at what times they were taught. (For example, we were given a behaviour management class AFTER a two week placement.) Forget about having placements where you are able to get to. That dosen't exist here. So many people I know have been dumped into schools ages away meaning they don't get to the schools on time, and then this affects their overall reports. The majority of tutors are unhelpful, and many are unconcerned with problems you come up against. The best advice I can give prospective students is find somewhere else, and take note of the horrendous reviews.

University facilities

The library is large, but 8/10 you won't find the books you want, and they charge to get books from another campus. Generally enough computers, and laptops, but you only manage to get onto about 3 webpages an hour the internet is so slow. The bar is small, but not too bad. There is a large sports hall, but thats about it. Nothing else to do.

Student union

There's a student union????? You mean the small room along the back corridors which is always empty?

Again, what clubs? Unless you are sporty, there isn't anything for you.

There are some good pubs and clubs up the road from the Uni, only five minutes away.

Accommodation

I didn't stay in the accomodation, but it is incredibly expensive for what you get.

Job prospects and careers service

Well, at the moment I am handing a complaint into the University as they have just single handedly held me back on my course for a year for giving me the incorrect infromation. I have no faith in the University in helping me get a job. I was desperate to start in teaching before this University, and after being here for a year and a half, they have made me want to think twice about my chosen career. Don't go to this University if you want a good career, a good job, and happy memories.
