Overall opinion
Dreadful experience, disorganised. Bad management of course, bad communication with students, regular redundancies mean most staff not interested in student welfare, only in preserving their jobs.
Quality of course and lecturers
Dreadful experience, disorganised. Course and Lecturers have no interest in the degree and openly hostile to anyone that did show an interest in the course. I came to Carlisle with an open mind wanting and expecting to have a good time, but all I got was struggle. Awful is to kind. No interest or interactivity with the students. No communication at all. Awfully structured courses, with lazy, incompetent and uninterested staff. I have lectures only 2 days a week. It's not even close to A-Level standards.
University facilities
Ancient computers, book availability patchy. Friendly staff in library have recently turned into ruthless debt collectors. Bar ok. Gym rubbish.
Student union
People who are way past their University days parading around once in a blue moon. Very inactive.
University societies and clubs
Can't even get a club sandwich in the canteen. Clubs are just not here.
University life
Dead. Totally.
Accommodation
Extremely small 'en-suite' rooms with shared kitchens that are falling to bits. Free bog roll though!
Job prospects and careers service
Jobcentre Plus is located in centre of Carlisle. Pay not good if you have no NI contributions and are an ex-student. Plus most local employers won't touch anyone from this place. As for an MA, that would be extra time in this craphole.
