Overall opinion

I am enjoying every minute at Derby - really throwing myself into it! The best advice, is to join a club/society, to meet some fantastic people!

Quality of course and lecturers

I get loads of choice over what modules i take. This year i only have 1 compulsory module out of 8. I have 8 hours a week lectures, but can arrange to see my lecturers outside of classes. Because the modules are diverse, the lecturers are really enthusiastic. I have to do presentations, which are scary, but great to improve public speaking

University facilities

There are approx. 200,000 books in the resource centre, as well as magazines & periodicals, plus electronic journals. There are plenty of computers, as well as wireless access around the uni. There is a bar at the Kedleston Road campus, The Academy, which hosts live bands.

Student union

The UDSU is a great organisation! There is at least one event in The Academy a month. They have a very visible presence around the Uni in there blue & white T-shirts.

University societies and clubs

There are around 60 clubs & societies in total, from Geology to Skydiving! The club/societies will do lots of charity work within & outside of the uni, especially in Rage week. Last year saw abseiling & 24hour camp outs, raising over £6,000

University life

The city is small, which makes it so much better! There is something for everyone in the town - clubs, live bands, live comedians, showcase cinema

Accomodation is very important, especially for freshers. It is a great way to make friends on arrival. There is a £1.50 bus to the uni, but it's only a 15 minute walk.
