Nottingham Trent University
In 1970, Nottingham Regional College of Technology amalgamated with Nottingham College of Art and Design to form Trent Polytechnic. In 1975, Trent Polytechnic merged with Nottingham College of Education to become the third largest polytechnic in England, and in 1988 became Nottingham Polytechnic. In 1992, the polytechnic was granted university status and was renamed The Nottingham Trent University. In 1999, Brackenhurst College merged with the university. Today the university offers a wide range of higher education courses.
